High school students were on platform when boy was fatally struck by train
Mount Albert Grammar School has confirmed one of its students died following an incident at Baldwin Avenue Train Station on Wednesday .
In an email to parents, headmaster Patrick Drumm said their thoughts were with the family of the boy and they were actively being supported.
"This morning the school has been focused on supporting staff and students who are also deeply affected by this loss. Our guidance team and pastoral staff are working closely with students and will continue to do so in the time ahead.
"We are grateful for the huge amount of support we are receiving from the wider educational community and beyond."
People left flowers at the station on Thursday.
In a separate message to parents of Year 9 and 10 students, Patrick Drumm said the news was broken to junior students in assemblies on Thursday morning.
