High Court orders police officer in Tanzania reinstated after dismissal over WhatsApp message

The Tanzanian High Court has ordered the reinstatement of a police officer who was dismissed for a critical WhatsApp message. The court ruled that the dismissal was unlawful because the cited disciplinary code did not exist and the message did not constitute a legal offense.
Dodoma. They say knowing the law is bliss, and that was precisely the case for former police officer Said Hashim in Mara region after the High Court ordered his reinstatement following his dismissal over alleged messages sent to a WhatsApp group.
