Hezbollah announces aid for displaced in Lebanon, despite pressures

Hezbollah has announced a financial aid program for Lebanese citizens who lost their homes during the recent conflict with Israel, offering up to $14,000 per household. This move occurs despite ongoing U.S. and Lebanese sanctions against the group.
Why it matters
The aid highlights the group's continued influence and resource management within Lebanon despite significant international pressure and economic sanctions.
Hezbollah announced on Tuesday (October 13, 2026) an aid programme for Lebanese who lost their homes in the war with Israel , with benefits capped at $14,000 per household, despite the U.S. and Lebanese sanctions on the militant group.
The announcement also comes despite the U.S. sanctions on Iran, which backs Hezbollah with weapons and resources, and tighter controls by the Lebanese authorities on Hezbollah's funding and supply routes, after the group emerged weakened from two wars with Israel since 2023.
At a press conference in Beirut's southern suburbs, the head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, Ali Daamouch, announced aid worth $14,000 per household for residents of Beirut and its southern suburbs, and $12,000 for other regions.
