As communities across the country push back against AI data centers over land use, water consumption and rising electricity costs, the trucking industry sees the buildout differently. With as many as two-thirds of AI data centers being constructed in rural areas, the influx of truck traffic is reshaping truck routes and is reportedly throwing a lifeline to a transportation business hit hard by macroeconomic uncertainty, from trade tariffs to increasing diesel prices.All the components that go into a data center, from HVAC systems to tubing and wiring and semiconductors, arrive primarily by truck, or by train and then truck.
