Here's how SpaceX imagines its massive Terafab chip factory will look
SpaceX has unveiled renderings of its massive 'Terafab' semiconductor factory in Texas, which is expected to cost over $16.8 billion. The facility aims to produce chips for space-based data centers and autonomous vehicles, marking a significant infrastructure investment in the AI sector.
Why it matters
The project represents a massive capital expenditure in the AI hardware supply chain, highlighting the scale of infrastructure required to support future computing needs.

SpaceX SpaceX released a rendering of its Terafab semiconductor factory on Thursday. The rendering features four rectangular-shaped buildings and an attached, futuristic roadway. SpaceX said the initial phase will cost $16.8 billion, with future phases costing "much higher." Elon Musk is calling it the "most valuable building on Earth by far." SpaceX on Thursday released several renderings — complete with panoramas and wide angles — of Terafab, the 100-million-square-foot semiconductor factory it's building in rural Texas. The imaginings, which could change, feature a futuristic, Star Wars-like roadway attached to what appears to be the factory, which itself is split into four massive, rectangular-shaped buildings. The foundations for an exciting future are being built in Texas.
