Helmet rules to be strictly enforced for pillion riders in Kanniyakumari

Violations will be detected through ‘Kaaval AI’ surveillance cameras installed at several locations across the district, as part of the ‘Zero Accident Kumari’ initiative aimed at reducing fatalities in two-wheeler accidents. A fine amount of ₹1,000 will be imposed on violations detected through the AI-enabled cameras.
A significant proportion of deaths and serious injuries in road accidents involve pillion riders. With the objective of preventing such casualties, road-safety measures in the district are being intensified based on the instructions of Kanniyakumari District Superintendent of Police R. Stalin.
The AI-enabled cameras, installed along with digital screens are currently operational at several locations in the district including Collectorate Roundabout, Vadasery, Chettikulam, APPTA market, Parvathipuram, Anjugramam, Vivekanandapuram, Karungal, Azhagiyamandapam, Thiruthuvapuram and Karungal.
