Heavy rain continued to batter several parts of Thrissur district on Sunday, aggravating waterlogging, forcing families to remain in relief camps and prompting the district administration to declare a holiday for all educational institutions on Monday as a precautionary measure.
With rain continuing in several taluks and flooding persisting in low-lying areas, District Collector Shikha Surendran ordered the closure of all educational institutions, including anganwadis, nursery schools, tuition centres, madrasas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, and professional colleges on Monday under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Scheduled examinations and interviews, however, will be held as planned.
