Heating prices will rise in Latvia this winter

Fuel for the winter is available. The Ministry of Economics and Energy (KEM) noted that local authorities and heat producers are prepared for the heating season. At the start of the heating season, the Inčukalns storage facility is expected to hold roughly the same amount of natural gas as it did before last winter. The Prime Minister said that there are currently 1.8 terawatt-hours of gas in the storage facility and, according to him, this would be sufficient to meet Latvia’s consumption for approximately two to three months. Wood pellets are also available. Their price has fallen following a sharp rise in the summer, though it remains higher than before. The main concern now is heating bills. These will not rise at the same rate across the whole of Latvia. It depends on the method of heat generation and when the company purchased its fuel.
