Routine newborn screening is usually done in the first 24 hours after birth. Screenings look for rare but serious health conditions that may not present right away and detect concerns like metabolic, endocrine and blood disorders.
Aspirus Health Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Sara Baldwin says these screenings pick up conditions other tests might miss.
