One of New Zealand’s highest-profile gang members – a social media influencer known to antagonise and occasionally try to humiliate police officers in his posts – has again avoided a prison sentence despite an argument from the Crown that he belongs behind bars.
Calen Morris, 40, has been involuntarily thrust into the spotlight on several occasions – most notably as a 501 deportee who was returned to New Zealand just in time to attend the funeral for cousin Connor Morris, the partner of Millie Elder-Holmes, who in 2014 became the victim of a high-profile murder.
