Head constable held for posing as anti-drug official

A head constable attached to the DGP’s office was arrested for allegedly impersonating an Anti-Narcotics Task Force official and attempting to take ₹3.3 lakh from a plastic trader in Old Washermenpet on Wednesday.
The accused, Ravivarman, 43, of Kancheepuram district, is attached to Orathi police station and is currently posted in the Computer Wing of the Police Budget Department at the DGP’s office.
According to police, Ravivarman went to the plastic trading firm of Praveen Kumar, 44, on RK Nagar 1st Street around 4 p.m. Claiming to be an anti-drug official, he allegedly said he had come to conduct a search for contraband. He searched the premises and allegedly took possession of 10 boxes of pan masala, herbal diabetes medicines and ₹3.3 lakh in cash.
