The Energy Market Authority (EMA) said on 30 June that electricity and town gas tariffs have reached record highs as fuel costs remain elevated. Electricity prices for households will rise by 17 per cent, or 4.64 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), to 31.91 cents per kWh before GST, according to SP Group. This surpasses the previous record of 30.45 cents per kWh set in late 2008.
