The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday directed the State government to file a comprehensive report on the details regarding the disciplinary proceedings initiated against erring government employees, the status of the proceedings and the action taken.
A Division Bench of Justices P. Velmurugan and K.K. Ramakrishnan took a serious view of the delay in appointing an inquiry officer to conduct departmental inquiry against erring government officials into the case pertaining to misappropriation of funds sanctioned for the welfare of Adi Dravidar Hostel students in Sivaganga district.
The court was hearing the public interest litigation petition filed by A. Sakthivel of Karaikudi in Sivaganga district, who said the petition was filed with regard to the huge scam committed by government officials involving more than ₹2.35 crore sanctioned for the welfare of the Adi Dravidar Hostel students.
