Haze: Slight improvement with fewer areas recording unhealthy API as of 7pm

Air quality in Malaysia has shown slight improvement, though dozens of areas still report unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) levels. Authorities continue to monitor the haze situation across multiple states, with no areas currently recording 'good' air quality.

PETALING JAYA: The haze situation improves slightly in Malaysia, with 36 areas recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at an unhealthy level as of 7pm on Thursday (Oct 8).
According to the Environment Department's Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Segamat, Johor continues to record the highest API reading at 190, followed by Seremban, Negeri Sembilan at 189.
Unhealthy API levels were also recorded in several areas in Selangor, namely Johan Setia (178), Banting (172), Shah Alam (171), Petaling Jaya (166) and Klang (165) with Cheras (170) and Batu Muda in the capital with a reading of 171 and Putrajaya with a reading of 175.
As for Pahang, Rompin recorded 178, with Indera Mahkota at 166 and Balok Baru Kuantan at 164, while Temerloh also recorded an unhealthy API at 154.
