Haze in Singapore: PSI hits new high in central region
Singapore's air quality reached unhealthy levels on October 9, with the central region recording a 24-hour PSI high of 186. Authorities have advised the public to reduce strenuous outdoor activities as pollution levels remain elevated across the island.

The 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) level there rose to 186 at 2pm , the highest so far in 2026 , while the hourly PM2.5 reading stood in the “elevated” band at 131.
PSI readings across all regions in Singapore – including that of the central area – have been inching upwards since morning.
At 9am, the central region logged a reading of 170, surpassing the previous high of 167 recorded in the same area on Sept 29.
By 2pm, the PSI in the central region had hit 186.
PSI readings across all five regions in Singapore have remained largely in the unhealthy range over the past 24 hours.
