Haryana cabinet gives nod to amendments to Agniveer policy for gainful employment

The Haryana cabinet has approved amendments to the state's Agniveer policy to improve job prospects for ex-servicemen. These changes exempt former Agniveers from certain recruitment exams and physical tests for specific government roles.
Why it matters
This policy shift addresses the long-term employment concerns of military veterans, integrating them into the state's civil service workforce.
Haryana Cabinet on Saturday (October 10, 2026) approved amendments to the State’s Agniveer policy to facilitate the rehabilitation and gainful employment of Ex-Agniveers by recognising their training, discipline and skills for service in government departments.
“Under the approved amendments, Ex-Agniveers will be exempted from all types of examinations prescribed for direct recruitment to Group-C posts covered under the policy. They will be considered for direct appointment against advertised posts, subject to the prescribed reservation and other applicable recruitment provisions,” said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who chaired the cabinet meeting.
