Hand injury keeps Harrington out of European Championship

Double Olympic champion Kellie Harrington will miss this month's European Elite Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria as she continues to struggle with a hand injury.
Harrington returned to the ring last December in an exhibition at the Mansion House, reversing a previous retirement decision following the 2024 Paris Games.
She was included in the Ireland team for the European Championships, but RTÉ Sport understands that an injury to her right hand will not be healed in time for the tournament which runs from 17-25 September.
The 36-year-old made a triumphant return to the ring in January when she won her 12th Irish National title and followed that with the gold at a four nations tournament in Glasgow in June.
