Halloween cookery, free health screening and classic board games at Ballybane Community Hub
Ballybane Community Hub in Galway is hosting a series of local events, including a Halloween-themed cookery class, free health screenings, and board game sessions. These initiatives aim to foster community engagement and provide accessible health services to local residents.
Why it matters
Community hubs play a vital role in local social cohesion and public health by providing accessible, non-clinical health checks and social activities.
Ballybane Community Hub has announced a series of upcoming events for the local community, including a Halloween-themed cookery demonstration, free health screening and an evening of classic board games.
The events offer opportunities for people to come together, enjoy new experiences and take advantage of activities and services in their local area.
The Halloween celebrations get underway on Thursday, October 22, with a special cookery demonstration entitled Spooktackler Halloween Special, beginning at 7pm.
Chef Maria McNeela will lead the demonstration, showing participants how to make traditional Irish barmbrack, a favourite Halloween treat, complete with the customary lucky ring hidden inside.
Organisers are inviting people to get into the Halloween spirit and enjoy an evening of baking, fun and Irish tradition. The event promises to be a spooktacular occasion for anyone interested in cookery and seasonal treats.
