Habagat, 3 cyclones cause P3.39-B damage to agriculture
The Philippine Department of Agriculture reported P3.39 billion in losses following the Southwest Monsoon and three tropical cyclones. The damage affected over 80,000 farmers and destroyed significant volumes of rice, high-value crops, and livestock.

<p>The agricultural sector has incurred P3.39 billion damage and losses due to the onslaught of the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and the recent tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Wednesday. </p><p>Latest assessments by regional offices showed that the agricultural damages were recorded in Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas. </p><p>There were 80,500 farmers and fisherfolk affected, and 72,766 hectares of agricultural areas destroyed. </p><p>The weather disturbances have also caused 82,631 metric tons of volume of production losses in agricultural commodities.</p><p>Of the total damage and losses recorded, rice accounted for the biggest share at P1.86 billion.</p><p>It was followed by high-value crops with P867.69 million in losses.
