LONDON, UK | Xinhua | Erling Haaland scored the only goal as Manchester City battled to a 1-0 win away to Manchester United in a bad-tempered derby on Sunday, maintaining its perfect record.

The Norwegian striker stuck out a foot to score from a narrow angle on the hour mark, with the goal initially ruled out for offside before VAR overturned the decision. Manchester City had been reduced to 10 men in the 23rd minute when Phil Foden was sent off for kicking out at Bruno Fernandes.

Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo hit the post for Manchester United either side of halftime, before Gianluigi Donnarumma pulled off a fine save to deny Bryan Mbeumo an equalizer deep into injury time.
