GVMC wards now officially increased to 120

The State Government has issued the final Gazette notification with details of the delimitation of the existing 98 wards of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) into 120 wards. This officially increases the number of wards in the city, from 98 to 120. The Gazette was published on September 14, 2026.
GVMC Commissioner, Ketan Garg on Tuesday, said that, as per the procedure prescribed by the State Government for the delimitation of wards, a preliminary notification was initially issued inviting objections and suggestions from the public. After examining the objections and suggestions received, the final Gazette notification was issued, finalising the delimitation of GVMC into 120 wards.
He stated that the Gazette contains the details of the areas and boundaries of the newly finalised 120 wards. The Commissioner advised citizens to take note of the changes and ascertain the ward in which their respective areas fall.
