GVMC launches ‘Cycling Mondays’ in Visakhapatnam

In a bid to curb rising air pollution and promote sustainable urban mobility, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg launched a new initiative, where he urged officials, employees, and citizens to adopt cycling every Monday.
Leading by example, on Monday morning, Mr. Garg commuted from his official residence to the GVMC head office on a bicycle. Several municipal officials and staff members joined the Commissioner in the ride, signalling their support for the campaign titled, 'Let’s Control Pollution... Let’s Use Bicycles.'
Speaking to the media after arriving at his office, Mr. Garg emphasised that the shift to ‘pedal power’ is a multi-approach to modern urban challenges. “Cycling is one of the most effective ways to promote public health, conserve fuel, and protect our environment,” he added.
