GVMC begins work on beachfront cycling track
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has begun construction on a new beachfront cycling track to promote eco-friendly transport. The project is being executed in phases alongside underground drainage work to improve city infrastructure.

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has begun work on a dedicated cycling track along the Beach Road, with the first phase being laid from the Naval Coastal Battery (NCB) towards Sagar Nagar.
The track has so far been completed up to the Pandurangapuram Down area. The remaining stretch will be taken up in phases, with the proposed track extending towards Sagar Nagar. Once completed, the beachfront facility is expected to offer cycling enthusiasts a dedicated route with scenic views of the coastline.
The project has been taken up initially with an estimated budget of about ₹80 lakh. However, the GVMC is also executing underground drainage works at several locations along the beachfront, including the stretch between the NCB and YMCA. The cycling track works in those portions will be taken up after the works are completed, said GVMC Chief Engineer PVV Satyanarayana Raju.
