Gurupura waterways, Lakshadweep jetty projects get environmental, CRZ nods
The Karnataka Maritime Board has received environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone clearances for the Gurupura waterways development and a new Lakshadweep-dedicated jetty at Old Mangaluru Port. These projects include the construction of associated infrastructure for cargo and cruise terminals to enhance maritime connectivity.

The waterways development project proposed by the Karnataka Maritime Board at Gurupura and the Lakshadweep-dedicated jetty project proposed at Old Mangaluru Port have received environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) approvals, according to a release from the Executive Engineer, Ports, and Fisheries, Udupi.
The jetty project also comprises developing associated infrastructure for cargo and cruise terminals. State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Karnataka, has cleared them, a release said.
An environmental public hearing for the projects was held by the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada. Following the process, the projects received approvals from SEIAA, the Karnataka Environment Department and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) authorities.
