Guntur neurologist elected to World Stroke Organisation Board
Dr. P. Vijaya, a neurologist from Guntur, India, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the World Stroke Organisation. She will represent the Asia-Oceania region for a four-year term starting in 2026.

Noted neurologist and director of Ankineedu Advanced Stroke Centre at Lalitha PVS Institute of Medical Sciences, Guntur, Dr. P. Vijaya, has been elected to the Board of Directors of World Stroke Organisation (WSO). She secured one of the 18 director positions through a global election involving 3,500 members from 95 countries.
Announcing the achievement on Tuesday, cardiologist and founder of Lalitha PVS Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. P.V. Raghava Sarma, said Dr. Vijaya will represent the Asia-Oceania region, one of the four continental groups in the WSO, alongside the Americas, Europe, and Africa-Middle East.
He said the election recognises her contributions to clinical stroke care, research, medical education, public awareness and advocacy. The World Stroke Organisation is an international body dedicated to reducing the global burden of stroke through prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, research and education.
