Guntur Municipal Corporation to spend ₹53.75 crores on ‘Nava Guntur’ development plan

Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has drawn up a ₹53.755-crore plan to transform the city into a modern, greener and better-equipped “Nava Guntur”.
Municipal Commissioner K. Mayur Ashok told The Hindu that the projects, spread across six major sectors, aim to improve quality of life, regulate traffic, strengthen sanitation and create better public spaces.
About ₹17.93 crore will be spent on developing and beautifying seven major junctions, including BR Stadium, PVK Naidu Market, Hindu College, Collectorate, Medical Club, Chuttugunta and Naaz Centre. The works will include landscaping, lighting, signboards, pedestrian facilities and cobblestone paving to regulate vehicle speeds.
Six theme parks will be developed at a cost of ₹7.30 crore, featuring women, superhero, science, cartoon, glow and Mediterranean themes. Another ₹7.01 crore will be spent on converting open spaces at 21 locations into neighbourhood parks with greenery, walking tracks, seating and play areas.
