MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — The Philippine National Police has vowed to impose appropriate sanctions for violations of existing laws as it continues to verify the ownership of and circumstances surrounding the gun found in the possession of a 14-year-old student in Pinamungajan, Cebu.
In a statement released on Friday night, August 20, PGen Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. confirmed the recovery of the gun, which was found inside the student’s school bag during a routine inspection. The discovery prompted school officials to immediately seek police assistance.
“The firearm was recovered without ammunition and is now under police custody for proper safekeeping and disposition,” read part of the statement.

It added that the firearm was traced to the boy’s grandfather who allegedly owned it.
