GRT Jewellers on Saturday distributed scholarships at its Endowment Scholarship ceremony held at the GRT Mahalakshmi Vidyalaya in Tiruttani. Nearly 1,000 students are expected to benefit from the initiative, making it the programme’s largest outreach so far. Among the beneficiaries was Darshini, a B.Com student who aspires to become a chartered accountant. Despite strong Class XII scores, she chose an affordable lower-fee college to avoid burdening her parents. “We cannot depend on our parents for everything,” she said. Janarthanan T., Manager of CSR activities at GRT Jewellers, said the initiative had evolved to include mentorship and academic guidance. “The cheque is only the first step. The goal is to ensure students have our support long after the ceremony ends,” he said.
