Group assaults autorickshaw driver, hands him over to police for sexually harassing woman

A group of people allegedly assaulted an autorickshaw driver, accused of sexual harassment, and handed him over to the police at Parpunja under Puttur Rural police limits on Wednesday. Police later arrested him.
The police identified the accused as Balakrishna.
In a statement, the police said Balakrishna was taking a woman known to him, who belongs to another community, to Puttur in his autorickshaw. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Balakrishna took a detour towards Kuriya, stopped on the way and misbehaved with her. Based on her complaint, the police arrested him under Sections 74, 75 and 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
