Gross GST mop-up grows 15% to ₹2 lakh crore in August

India's gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections grew by 14.8% year-on-year to ₹2 lakh crore in August 2026. While domestic transaction revenue saw steady growth, import-related tax revenue surged by 29%.

Goods and Services Tax revenue from domestic transactions rose 9.3% to over ₹1.37 lakh crore, while revenue from imports increased 29% to ₹62,604 crore.
The gross Central GST collection was ₹38,413 crore, State GST at ₹46,316 crore and Integrated GST at over ₹1.15 lakh crore during August.
