Grehan lost the first three holes to the fast-starting American Preston stout before a welcome birdie on the par-four sixth pulled him back within two.
The Tullamore man had levelled the match by the 10th hole but fell back to two-down when Stout made three birdies in four holes from the 12th to the 15th.
