Greg Norman bought Florida estate for $4.9m, sold it 30 years later for $55.1m
Golf legend Greg Norman sold his Florida estate, 'Tranquility,' for $55.1 million in 2021, significantly higher than his 1991 purchase price of $4.9 million. The property underwent extensive renovations over three decades to become a private, luxury compound.
Why it matters
The sale illustrates the extreme appreciation of high-end real estate in exclusive coastal markets over long holding periods.
When Greg Norman bought an 8.3-acre estate on Florida’s Jupiter Island in 1991, the property already offered something difficult to find: privacy, direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, and enough space for boats, guests and family life. Over the next three decades, however, the golf champion and his wife, Kirsten “Kiki” Norman, transformed the estate into a sprawling compound known as Tranquility. They rebuilt several of its key structures and extensively renovated the rest. According to reports from the Los Angeles Times, Coldwell Banker Global Luxury and Yahoo Sports, the property was eventually sold for about $55.1 million in 2021, which was far above Norman’s original $4.9 million purchase price. The sale marked the end of a long, highly personal real-estate project.Finding Tranquility in 1991Greg Norman was already a major name in professional golf when he purchased the Jupiter Island property.
