Green corridor set up to transport brain-dead Kollam councillor’s organs to Thiruvananthapuram
A green corridor was established in Kerala to transport organs from a brain-dead councillor to hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. The donation of the liver, kidneys, and corneas is expected to benefit five recipients.

A special green corridor has been established for transporting a donor kidney and a liver from Kollam to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) afternoon.
The green corridor has been created for seamless transportation of the retrieved organs of B. Ajith Kumar, a 53-year-old Kollam Corporation councillor and standing committee chairperson from Kureepuzha who had been admitted to Travancore Medical College Hospital, Kollam, following a stroke on Sunday morning. He was declared brain dead early Wednesday morning while still under treatment.
Following his death, Ajith Kumar’s family members, including brother Suresh Kumar B., agreed to donate his organs.
Ajith Kumar’s liver, kidneys, and corneas will give a new lease to five persons.
