Grand steps of Vidhana Soudha to turn a concert stage on I-Day

The Karnataka government is organizing a 'Freedom Habba' music concert on the steps of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to celebrate Independence Day. The event features prominent local musicians and requires mandatory pre-registration for attendees.
Why it matters
The event highlights state-sponsored cultural initiatives aimed at fostering civic engagement and community celebration in a historic government space.
The grand steps of the iconic Vidhana Soudha will turn into a concert stage on the evening of this Independence Day as part of the Freedom Habba, being organised by the State government.
Freedom Habba’s Music Collective brings together 10 of the city’s prominent music voices — Raghu Dixit, Praveen D. Rao, M.D. Pallavi, Bruce Lee Mani, Sanjith Hegde, Brodha V., Siddhartha Belamannu, Varijashree Venugopal, Harish Sivaramakrishnan and Nakul Abhyankar. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday.
“Independence Day should be experienced not just as a ceremony, but as a celebration we create together. What better way to bring Bengaluru together than through music, in a place that belongs to all of us?” said Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
