The battle over the graffiti continued at Jadavpur University as the freshly painted graffiti by the students was further whitewashed by the administration late on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) night.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, on August 26, 2026, directed the university administration to take action against the ‘anti-national’ graffiti painted on the walls, including the ones hailing Maoist leader Kishenji, demanding freedom for Palestine, Kashmir, and also slogans on ‘shooting the fascists’.

Following the development, the university administration whitewashed all the graffiti across the main building, Aurobindo Bhaban, Arts Hostel, and Open-Air Theatre. However, those were repainted, which the students claimed was an attempt to ‘reclaim’ the walls in the University. One of the freshly painted graffiti on Monday (August 31, 2026) quoted Karl Marx, saying, “We have no compassion/And we ask no compassion from you/When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror”.
