GRA wants tribunal on handling of protected disclosures

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) is calling on the Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan to establish an independent statutory tribunal of inquiry into the handling of protected disclosures within An Garda Síochána, following this week's RTÉ Investigates programme.
RTÉ Investigates reported that two people who handled protected disclosures made by garda whistleblowers have themselves blown the whistle , alleging that reforms introduced to protect those who speak out have been undermined by senior management.
In a statement released last night, the GRA said that issues with the protected disclosures process was "not a new or isolated pattern" and that it was "one the Association has encountered on previous occasions in its representative work".
