Govt. will stand by Kavin’s family until justice is secured: Vanni Arasu
Tamil Nadu Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu has pledged the government's continued legal support to the family of caste-killing victim C. Kavin Selvaganesh. The assurance led the victim's parents to end a three-day protest against the discharge of the prime accused's parents from the case.
Why it matters
The case highlights ongoing tensions regarding caste-based violence and the accountability of law enforcement officials in the judicial process, underscoring the government's role in ensuring legal outcomes.
Minister for Social Justice Vanni Arasu on Saturday said that the government would continue its legal battle and stand with the affected people, until they get justice, not merely a verdict.
He made the remarks while addressing the media in Arumugamangalam in Thoothukudi district along with the parents of caste killing victim C. Kavin Selvaganesh, who were protesting in front their house for the past three days condemning the quashing of the final report against the parents of prime accused S. Surjith in the murder case.
Addressing the media, he said Surjith’s father and mother, who were involved in Kavin’s murder are police officers. “Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi had continuously been on the protest front demanding that they be arrested. His mother Krishnakumari was not arrested. We continued to raise the demand, and it was only after this government came to power that she was arrested.
