The Centre for Liberty has urged the State Government and the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to resolve the land dispute affecting 33 plot owners at Navluru village of Mangalagiri mandal in Amaravati on Tuesday.

A team of the Centre for Liberty, led by retired IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, visited the village and examined the issue. Mr. Rao claimed the lands had originally been assigned to farmers during the British period. He alleged that the lands were recorded as tank Poramboke in 1907 and subsequently divided into seven subdivisions in 1925, including one classified as Vagu Poramboke.

The beneficiaries later obtained permission from the village panchayat for a layout and sold the developed plots, Mr. Rao claimed. However, the State government included the lands in the 22A prohibited properties list in 2007. The beneficiaries subsequently approached the courts, and the legal dispute has been continuing, he added.
