The State government is committed to safeguarding citizens’ right to choose their preferred line of medical treatment by giving equal priority to traditional healthcare systems—including ayurveda, homeopathy, and unani alongside allopathy, Health Minister K. Muraleedharan said here on Saturday.

Speaking after inaugurating the new building for the homeopathic hospital in Sooranad North grama panchayat, the Minister added that both Central and State funds allocated to the AYUSH department will be fully utilised to strengthen and develop traditional healthcare infrastructure.

“Representatives from the homeopathy sector have already been included in expert committees formed to study and combat infectious diseases,” he said.

The Minister further added that the government is taking steps to ensure 24-hour specialty casualty facilities at General and Taluk hospitals, selecting the Punalur Taluk Hospital for the initial phase of implementation.
