The State Government is staring at huge financial burden going by the rising demands from employees for release of pending instalments of the dearness allowance and implementation of the revised pay scales.

Employees staged a lunch hour demonstration at the Secretariat demanding release of five instalments of DA, implementation of old pension scheme and the pending pay revision. The State Government has spent ₹17,874 crore towards salaries or wages till July-end in the current fiscal as against the total expenditure of ₹48,358 crore budgeted for the year, according to the provisional information submitted to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
