Govt reconstitutes CBFC board: Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi among 18 members

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Wednesday announced the reconstitution of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with an 18-member board featuring several well-known names from the film and entertainment industry. The new panel includes actors Preity Zinta, Suniel Shetty, Roopali Ganguly, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi and Prosenjit Chatterjee, among others.The board has been reconstituted under the powers conferred by the Cinematograph Act for a period of three years or until further orders. The move comes after a considerable gap, with the CBFC’s previous board having been formally reconstituted in August 2017.
