Reiterating the Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment to strengthening the State’s handloom and handicraft sectors, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, BC Welfare and EWS Welfare S. Savitha on Thursday said the government would continue to support artisans by expanding market access, encouraging innovation, while preserving traditional skills and facilitating participation in national and international exhibitions.
The Minister, accompanied by Chairman, Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (Lepakshi) Pasupuleti Hari Prasad, visited the Andhra Pradesh (Lepakshi) Pavilion at the ongoing Bharat Tex-2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Ms. Savitha interacted with the artisans, appreciated their craftsmanship and lauded Lepakshi for showcasing Andhra Pradesh’s rich handicraft heritage through live demonstrations of crochet lace, Pedana Kalamkari, carpet weaving and Kalamkari block printing.
