Government school teacher develops mobile app for NMMS exam
A government school teacher has developed a mobile app called 'NMMS Nellai' to help students prepare for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship exam. The app provides offline access to study materials and previous question papers to improve student success rates.

A mobile app developed by a government school woman teacher for the benefit of students preparing for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) was launched here on Friday.
Chief Educational Officer Sivakumar, after assuming office here, took special efforts in educating the children of government and government-aided schools for the NMMS examination by preparing exclusive teaching modules and question papers by the teachers from each subject. These specially designed modules were handed over to the teachers preparing the children for the NMMS that ensures a scholarship of ₹1,000 a month from Class IX to XII for meritorious students clearing the exam.
These special efforts taken by the CEO yielded excellent results as Tirunelveli district produced more number of children clearing the NMMS exam and stood first in Tamil Nadu. After 508 students from Tirunelveli district cleared the NMMS exam in 2024, the number rose to 659 last year.
