Goondas Act slapped on couple in Odisha woman murder case

Police in Tambaram have invoked the Goondas Act against a couple accused of murdering and dismembering a woman in Guduvancheri. The suspects were apprehended after human remains were discovered in a vessel used for cooking.

The Tambaram City Police have invoked the Goondas Act against Manik Uddin Laskar, 22, a native of Assam, and his wife, Bhagawati Majhi, 21, who were arrested for allegedly murdering and dismembering a 38-year-old woman in Guduvancheri.
The murder of the woman came to light on August 5, when a headless body was found inside an unclaimed suitcase found aboard the Tamil Nadu Express after it reached Agra from Chennai.
After scrutinising CCTV camera footage, the police searched a house on Mosque Street in Guduvancheri, and found human remains inside a large vessel used for preparing biryani.
The victim was identified as Hayathun Nisha, 38, a native of Odisha.
