Google to open new office building in Dublin

Google is expanding its presence in Dublin by opening a new office building called 'The Bakery' in the Docklands. The project represents a significant investment in the Irish economy and reinforces the company's long-term commitment to the region.
Why it matters
Google's continued investment in Ireland highlights the country's role as a major European hub for global technology firms.
Google has announced plans to open a new office building in Dublin's Docklands.
'The Bakery' is located on Grand Canal Street at the site of the original 1874 City of Dublin Bakery founded by Patrick Boland, which was occupied by Éamon de Valera during the 1916 Easter Rising.
In more recent times, the site was home to The Treasury Building and was the headquarters of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) and the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA).
Google bought the building in 2020 for €120 million.
'The Bakery' will have capacity to accommodate up to 1,900 Google staff, with the first employees moving there from late next year.
Google bought the nearby Boland's Mills in 2018 and has developed that site into a mix of office, residential and cultural spaces.
