Google hitches a ride aboard Elon Musk's SpaceX; to send TPUs to space
Google is partnering with SpaceX and Planet to launch a prototype satellite to test the performance of Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) in space. This initiative, known as Project Suncatcher, aims to explore the feasibility of scalable machine learning infrastructure in orbit.

Google announced that its Project Suncatcher is scheduled to embark on its first test in orbit, launching a prototype satellite to evaluate how Google Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) perform in space. Sharing a post on X, Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote: “Can our TPUs survive and operate in space? Well, we're going to find out”.
