Gold rings presented to newborns in Kanniyakumari and Thoothukudi districts under ‘Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam’

Collector M. Prathap on Monday formally launched the ‘Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam’ at Kanniyakumari Government Medical College and Hospital (KKGMCH) at Asaripallam in the district
Mr. Prathap said the one gram gold ring would be given to babies born in government hospitals from June 22 this year, which stood ar 1,401. Based on the schedule prepared by the district administration, vehicular arrangements had been made for the next fortnight to transport mothers of newborns to KKGMCH, Government Headquarters Hospital in Padmanabhapuram and Government Hospital in Kuzhithurai, where the gold rings would be distributed.
On the first day, a total of 60 newborn babies comprising 30 in KKGMCH, 15 in Government Taluk Headquarters Hospital in Padmanabhapuram and 15 at Government Hospital in Kuzhithurai were given gold rings.
