The Goa Cabinet has approved the Goa Prohibition of Unlawful Conversions of Religion Bill, 2026. The Bill proposes strict punishment for conversions allegedly carried out through force, coercion, undue influence, allurement, fraud or marriage, including up to life imprisonment, fines and compensation for victims. It is expected to be introduced during the Goa Assembly’s monsoon session beginning August 31.
