Global adventurer Karl Bushby names date for English Channel swim
British adventurer Karl Bushby has received permission from French authorities to swim the English Channel to complete his 28-year global trek. The 57-year-old plans to finish his journey in Hull after previously being denied access to the Channel Tunnel.

Karl Bushby, 57, set off from Chile in 1998 and has reached Belgium. Under the terms of the challenge he has set himself he is unable to use transport to reach his home city of Hull.
The former British Army paratrooper and son of an SAS soldier said he expected to take to the water on 1 October, tides and weather permitting.
Bushby, who this summer was refused access to the Channel Tunnel which would have avoided having to navigate one of the world's busiest shipping routes, said: "I'm really pleased the plan is coming together."
