Glen Innes homicide investigation: Man dead, person in custody after East Auckland incident

Police in Glen Innes, Auckland, have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a man who suffered stab wounds. One person is currently in custody as authorities work to reassure the local community.

Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a man in East Auckland.
Emergency services were called to Sunnymead Rd, Glen Innes about 2.45pm after reports that a person had been critically injured.
“Police quickly attended and sadly, despite best efforts by emergency services, a man was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Acting Detective Inspector Craig Bolton said.
“One person was swiftly taken into custody and is assisting police with inquiries.”
Cordons have been established at both ends of Sunnymead Rd while police officers stand guard.
About 20 residents from surrounding streets are watching on from the Fenchurch St end.
Bolton said it is not believed there is any risk to the wider public.
